Sunlight, Texture, and the Art of Recycled Glass

The latest material experiment: a big, heavy panel created from recycled construction‑waste glass, now revealing its beautiful semi‑translucent quality as the sun shines through it.

This fused glass panel already has a destination, but recycled glass can be transformed into so much more. Kitchen splashbacks, bespoke light fittings, award trophies, even exterior cladding. When you rethink materials, the possibilities expand far beyond their original life.

This particular panel features a distinct pattern formed by broken toughened glass, the kind most people call “waste.” I gave it a second life. The edges are uncut, it measures 96 × 74 cm, 15 mm thick, and weighs about 25 kg. What was once discarded has become something unexpectedly beautiful. Shattered once, yes, but now, through my expertise in fusing recycled glass, it has become absolutely fabulous.

My dog agreed to help out as a model… until she got bored and quit the job.
