Illuminating Space with Custom Fused Glass Panels: “The Crashing Waves” in Light Shades!

This project was a truly exciting opportunity that embodied collaboration and creativity. A customer approached with a vision, sharing initial sketches and ideas that sparked a new challenge. Together, the goal was to explore how to interpret these concepts into a stunning pattern using fused recycled glass.

The design process began with in-depth discussions about the desired aesthetic and the themes to capture. Drawing inspiration from the ocean, the focus was on creating a dynamic interplay of colours and shapes. Development of a prototype was undertaken to translate these ideas into a tangible form.

After several iterations and refinements, the final outcome consisted of a striking panel crafted from vibrant coloured glass in shades of blue, green, aqua, white, and pale mint. Each piece was carefully selected to ensure a harmonious blend that evokes the essence of ocean waves.

Once the panel was finalised, it was cut into four similarly sized panels, with holes drilled in each corner for wall fittings, and each was fitted onto the wall to create individual light shades in the same design language and colours for their private home. This transformation highlights the beautiful patterns created and serves a functional purpose, bringing a personal touch, designed by the customer, to their home. The interplay of light through the glass creates a mesmerising display that captures the essence of the customer’s vision. 

Throughout the design process, communication was crucial. From initial discussions to studio visits, ideas and possibilities were navigated to ensure that every detail aligned with the vision. This project stands as a testament to what can be achieved when creativity meets collaboration, resulting in a stunning and functional piece of art.
