Industry Recognition – Glass International Publishes the Story Behind the Award-Winning Glass Wall Buttermarket

Glass International, “Glass recycling project enables sustainable restoration of historic site” June 2025 – Vol. 48 No6, pp 58-59, Editor Greg Morris

I’m incredibly proud to share that Glass International has published an article on the award-winning Buttermarket Glass Wall in Redruth, Cornwall—our most ambitious architectural installation to date.

This piece celebrates the completion of a vision that began over a decade ago: transforming discarded glass bottles into aesthetically, sustainable architectural installations.

It’s a huge honour to see this work recognised by an industry publication. The journey to this moment has been shaped by the belief that waste glass can be reimagined into something both environmentally responsible and aesthetically powerful.

This recognition also belongs to the brilliant team at Thread Architects—Jen and Claire—for their boundary-pushing design approach; their visionary client, who prioritised sustainability and accessibility; and Krysteline, whose equipment support made this technically possible.

This wall is more than a design statement—it's a tribute to what happens when material innovation, heritage spaces, and systems thinking converge. If you’re passing through Cornwall, I hope you’ll visit the Buttermarket in Redruth and see the installation in its full light.

Grateful for the feature—and for everyone who helped make this dream in glass a reality.
