Resistance to staining

The resistance to staining

A test was conducted on the recycled glass tiles. The ‘Standard Test Method for Determination of Resistance to Staining, ASTM Designation C 1378-97’ was used. This test is based on a standardised test method for determination of staining of ceramic glazed wall tiles. Samples tested were recycled glass tiles

The resistance to staining was tested by exposing a staining agent to the surface of a sample for 24 hours, and then cleaned off in a defined manner according to the methodology. The tiles were inspected visually for stains and reported qualitatively.

Results. The test has shown that it is difficult to permanently stain the dark tiles. In the case of white tiles, a Nanogate coating was highly effective. Results confirmed the acceptability of the tiles for the architectural application.
