We are proud to announce that our latest research has been peer-reviewed and published in Glass Structures & Engineering, now available as open access to all readers. This milestone extends our research journey and confirms the environmental durability and impact resistance of our fused recycled glass material, crafted from bottle glass and construction waste, for use in architectural installations.

Key Findings

The study demonstrates that our material shows no deterioration under dry heat, damp heat, or freeze–thaw conditions. Its impact resistance is comparable to commercial ceramic and porcelain, positioning it as a resilient and viable option for sustainable design in architectural applications.

At the heart of this innovation are circular economy principles: no additives, no resin, and no inorganic binders. The result is a high-performance material that aligns with climate-conscious design and responsible resource use.

Collaborative Effort

This publication is the result of a collaborative process with leading Welsh universities. We extend our sincere thanks to Wrexham University and Aberystwyth University for their experimental contributions, to our co-authors A.J.Clayton, N. R. Haigh, D. J. Coathup & J. J. Tomes for their work in material testing and validating the paper, and to Cardiff Metropolitan University for supporting its publication. Your collective efforts have brought this work into the public domain, advancing the visibility of sustainable material innovation from Wales.
