From Norway to Wales: A Creative Journey Rooted in Sustainability
Last year Tyra Oseng-Rees were interviewed by Saltdal Utvikling KF as part of the StartOpp Nordland entrepreneurial program, with fortellfortell AS filming the conversation. In that interview, she talked about the journey that has shaped her, from growing up in Saltdal kommune to developing her work and perspective in Wales.
How the Future Generations Act Shaped her Thinking
“My time in Wales introduced me to the Future Generations Act, a piece of legislation that has fundamentally influenced how I think about creativity, sustainability, and business. It opened my eyes to new ways of working and new entrepreneurial opportunities, and it continues to guide the choices I make in my practice.” Dr TyraOseng-Rees
Building a Business Through Persistence
She continues saying that, starting and running her own company has been a demanding, often intimidating process. It has taken real persistence, blood, sweat, and tears, to prove that fused recycled glass can and should have a place in both the aesthetic and sustainable landscape. But I believe deeply in the material and in the message behind it.
“My environmental journey began in my hometown of Saltdal, but it was Wales that cemented my commitment through its forward‑thinking approach to sustainability. Everything I do is rooted in one clear idea: Waste glass can be beautiful, strong, and sustainable.” Dr TyraOseng-Rees
Open to New Conversations in Norway
Oseng-Rees Reflection is always open to sharing experiences, insights, and perspectives with more Norwegian arenas. If our journey can spark new conversations or inspire new possibilities, we’re eager to be part of that dialogue.
