Dr Tyra Oseng-Rees speaking at Sustainability Calling Conference 2026
Sustainability Calling 2026: From Commitment to Authentic Implementation
Dr Tyra Oseng-Rees, founder of Oseng-Rees Reflections Ltd, is delighted to be attending Sustainability Calling 2026 at the University of Warwick on Friday 16 October, where she has been invited to join the panel discussion “The Reality of EDI in Organisations – From Commitment to Authentic Implementation”, chaired by Dr Hushneara Begum.
This year’s conference theme, “Authentically Leading Sustainability in Organisations”, brings together people from business, academia, local government and industry to explore how sustainability commitments can translate into meaningful action.
As a Norwegian woman with a background in academia, Tyra is now building a business that bridges the creative and construction industries, developing innovative architectural materials made from waste glass. Bringing a new material to market has required her to challenge established practices, demonstrate its value and build credibility in a traditionally male-dominated industry.
These experiences have shaped her perspective on equality, diversity and inclusion. For Tyra, EDI is about more than representation; it is about recognising expertise, challenging assumptions and creating environments where different perspectives are genuinely valued.
She looks forward to sharing her experiences and exploring how diversity of thought can help organisations challenge established ways of thinking and find new solutions to complex challenges.
Creating sustainable awards for Sustainability Calling 2026
For the second year running, Tyra has also been commissioned to create the conference awards using artisan sustainable fused recycled glass. “It’s been a pleasure to make the awards again this year. Nothing beats happy repeat customers, and for a sustainability award, nothing beats an award made from recycled glass and reclaimed wood!”, says Tyra, and a great thank you to the Centre for Sustainability for the order and continued trust in her work, with the awards reflect the principles at the heart of her work: transforming waste into something beautiful, valuable and meaningful through creativity, innovation and circular thinking.

Tyra looks forward to the conversations, new connections and opportunity to celebrate those working to make sustainability a reality.
